Iris

May 20th a smaller iris caught my eye and I stopped cold, could it be finally after three years of waiting our first hybrid opened?  Sure enough there she was in all her glory and as we have watched the the next few hours we are still in shock as she is still curled.  Even after being opened for 24/48 hours she is still curled, we have cooler temps.

We have learned to not judge a bloom by the first flower, even after the first year one
shouldn't rush to name.  You want something special and most folks will not accept the curling that we are currently seeing.  We will monitor this one for a while.

May 26, 2008 ~ Blooms #2 & 3 are now open and as you can see a good lesson on my it's
important to not judge the first blooom. It is also important to not rush out to name as
we may even see something different the next season.  So those of you out there that rush
to name a bloom or even seed, just might look bad??
